A Commitment
That goes beyond the companies
The wellbeing of our community and the environment are the pillars on which our business development is based.
Inca Esquila

This program undertaken by the Inca Tops company of GRUPO INCA, has the objective of training alpaca breeders to obtain a better final product at the time of shearing, and to protect the animals.

Shearing, as it is traditionally carried out, causes the fibers of different qualities to intermix, which leads to the low image that consumers have of Alpaca. With simple methods that not only take care of the animal, but also separate the qualities at the time of shearing, the income level of the producer can be substantially increased.

Training of producers of alpaca fiber

Inca Tops, a company of GRUPO INCA, has been instructing the alpaca breeders of Peru, in the technical breeding of camelids. We annually train close to 1,000 breeders of the High Andean communities.

The training is both theoretical and practical and it is carried out by professionals from the company into the various breeding and care units of alpacas, such as: nutrition, health, reproduction and genetic improvement. This valuable information enables the producers to adapt the supply of fiber to the industry, thereby substantially improving their economic income.

Black Alpaka

The Black Alpaka program, or Yanapaco in Quechua, seeks to rescue the breeding of pure black colored alpacas the number of which has fallen enormously in recent decades, until it accounted for less than 0.5% of the total produced in the country.

The PACOMARCA Farm has a specially selected experimental population of approximately 1000 pure black animals with which a genetic valuation program is carried out and their unique heritability studied. This is the largest population of pure black color alpacas in Peru.

In 2023, Grupo Inca published the book:
PACOMARCA
Alpacas: genética en blanco y negro.
It represents a legacy to Peruvian Alpaca fiber produces, to encourage them to improve the breeding of this noble animal of the Andes. Through this interesting book, a well-deserved tribute is given to those who have dedicated valuable years of their lives to carrying out the genetic improvement of alpaca fiber.

Books - Gold of the Andes: Llamas, Alpacas, Vicuñas and Guanacos of South America

Gold of the Andes

This was the name of the books sponsored by GRUPO INCA, between 1994 and 1996. They consisted of two volumes and the edition was produced in four languages: Spanish, English, Italian and Japanese.

The objective of these texts was to disseminate the habitat, customs, properties and legends of the South American Camelids that have lived in the Andes since time immemorial. The book included important information collected from various related studies, and which had never been completely edited. The texts were written by Kim McQuarrie. The income that was obtained from these books, was also destined to executing programs for the benefit of the camelid breeders and their communities. The funds also served to carry out studies that permitted the wellbeing and survival of these animals, which, as in the case of the vicuña, were in danger of extinction.
