A Commitment
That goes beyond the companies
The wellbeing of our community and the environment are the pillars on which our business development is based.
The Ecological and Social Patrol

The Asociación Patrulla Ecológica was formed in April of 2008, but its philanthropic actions started in the year 2002. It has the financial support of companies of GRUPO INCA, as well as friendly companies of the Arequipa Region.

The main objectives are to promote scientific research regarding the conservation of the environment, to create awareness and educate the population regarding environmental culture, develop and transmit sustainable projects regarding arborization, among many others.

In recent years, we have been working in the recycling of garbage on the beaches of Arequipa, together with the municipalities. Reforestation programs are also being developed.

Reforestation Programs

Since the year 2007, GRUPO INCA has been carrying out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) gatherings, with the participation of its executives planting native trees from a variety of regions. The first of these was carried out in Cusco, in the Lares watershed. Subsequently in Arequipa, in the areas of Zamácola and the Colca Valley (Ichupampa and Yanque). The trees are donated by the member Companies of GRUPO INCA.

Following this initiative since 2007, the company, Amazonas Explorer has helped plant nearly 1,000,000 trees in the areas close to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. These plantations take place with the participation of not only the personnel of the company, but also the guides, cooks, porters, sundry service providers, as well as inhabitants of the area to be reforested.

These programs seek to sensitize and raise awareness in our collaborators, their families, and the populations of the mentioned areas, regarding the importance of contributing to the preservation of our Planet by means of tree planting.

The municipalities of the reforested regions support this initiative, subsequently assuming responsibility for the planted trees so that they have sufficient water, and thus take root and grow.

Book - Discovering the Colca Valley

This was the first book sponsored by GRUPO INCA with an edition of 5,000 copies. It narrates the history of the Collaguas, Cabanas and Incas, cultures that magnificently developed the architecture and agriculture of the Colca valley. This can be appreciated in the beautiful photographs included in these copies. The prologue was written by the author Mario Vargas Llosa, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in the year 2010.

The printing of these texts was made possible with the valuable collaboration of the people of the Colca Valley in Arequipa, whose kindness along with the magic of the place, totally envelops its visitors.

The edition is currently sold out, but the profits obtained from the sale of these copies were destined to projects carried out for the benefit of the population of the Valley, through the Colca Foundation, mainly supporting them in health aspects.

Book - The Amazon Paradise of Peru: MANU

The first edition of this book was printed in 1992 and consisted of 10,000 copies, which rapidly sold out. GRUPO INCA sponsored a second edition that was also very successful.

It was printed in Spain and it contains very valuable information. Manu is one of the few reserved zones in the world which has not been predated by man since it is jealously protected by its geography. The vegetation is almost intact and the animals that live in this zone transit freely, thus it is an ecological paradise.

The funds collected from the sales of these copies were donated to the national park and to institutions that ensure the conservation of the area. The works carried out include: the acquisition of 3,000 virgin hectares in Sunchubamba, the construction of an observation tower in Cocha Otorongo, the clearance of the Aguajal-Limonal path, and the construction of an interpretation center and a control point in El Limonal.

Book - Where the Andes meet the Amazon: Bahuaja-Sonene and Madidi

In the year 2001, GRUPO INCA sponsored the printing of this book, which describes the fabulous natural wealth of the two National Parks located between Peru and Bolivia: Bahuaja-Sonene, better known as Tambopata-Candamo and Madidi. The two Parks protect approximately 3,5 million hectares.

In the books, you can find more than 300 photographs that showcase this marvelous biological treasure, taken by the recognized Swiss photographer André Bärtschi. The texts have been written by the award-winning author and filmmaker Kim MacQuarrie, the narrative of which is both fascinating and dramatic.

The commitment of GRUPO INCA has been to channel the profits that were collected with the sale of these books to the conservation of the mentioned Parks. In this way, the following works have been completed: an interpretation center, a control point and an observation tower in Sandoval Lake, as well as an important control tower at Río Azul.
