The company PALOMA ESTATES S.A., initially named "Comercial y Agrícola Paicaví Ltda.”, was founded in 1989 with the mission of growing and exporting cochineal in Chile . PALOMA ESTATES S.A. was the first to introduce the production of cochineal in Chile , and was successful in developing and applying new technologies, which resulted in important yield gains and quality improvements of its cochineal. In order to reduce the risk of depending on the sole cochineal production, PALOMA ESTATES S.A. began to diversify its activities in 1994. Presently the Company owns 3 estates located all in the IV region, approximately 400-km north of Santiago . The 3 plantations (“fundos”) have different microclimatic characteristics:

In the San José Farm, located in the Elqui valley, where the headquarters are located, besides growing cochineal, its traditional activity, the Company produces clementines of the Clemenule variety, which are cropped as Chilean late season clementines, because of the moderate temperatures. The occurrence of very seldom rainfalls during the crop period is propitious for a good post-harvest life of the fruit. In the next few years, oranges of the Navel Late varieties and W.Murcott clementines (later variety than Clemenules) should be also cropped. Some lucumas trees are also grown on this estate. A new Hass avocado plantation of 100 ha , should start producing in 2006.

In La Paloma estate, located in the Monte Patria region, on the shores of La Paloma irrigation dam, the Company harvests early season fruit: table grapes of the Crimson Seedless, Red Globe, Thompson Seedless and Flame Seedless varieties; clementines of the Clemenule variety, and very soon avocados of the Hass variety.

.Its newest plantation (1997): Fundo Las Chumberas, located near the city of Ovalle , is dedicated entirely to the production of avocados of the Hass variety.

Paloma Estates S.A. is permanently working to meet the requirements of the most demanding markets: quality of its fruit, on-time deliveries, safety of the procedures, etc.

Taking advantage of the different climatologic conditions of each of its 3 plantations, Paloma Estates S.A. can offer its fruit over a wide period of time:
